The Age of Exploration
For your Chapter 6 assessment, you will be writing an essay.
Essay Topic:
Was Columbus a hero who ushered in economic well-being throughout the world? Or was he a prime mover in the destruction of the people and cultures of the Americas? Make sure to address the question of who “discovered” America and whether or not it matters who discovered America.

Instructions for your Historical Essay
First, take notes on all sources that you choose or are assigned to use for the essay. Make sure to especially notice information that supports the argument(s) that you are trying to make. Then, write your rough draft. Finally, write your final draft. You will be turning in your notes and rough draft with your final essay.
This assignment must have a rough draft and a final copy. The final draft essay must be in ink, neat, and be at least 2 full pages in length if it is hand written. If you choose to type your essay, it must be at least 1 to 1 ½ pages typed in 12 point font. Margins must be 1 to 1 ½ inches. Grammar and spelling does count.
